    sarikat's Note:

This was originally published in "Southern Living" magazine; I have made a few alterations. I have used both Betty Crocker and Krusteaz sugar cookie mixes, both are good just remember that baking temps/times may vary. These cookies are sweet, spicy, and make me think of the winter holidays.

VERY easy and VERY good. Make sure you leave a inch or so between cookies as they spread. This will be a Crhistmas cookie for us from now on.

my family doesn't like eggnog...changed it to half and half, added a splash of vanilla extract and decorated with red and green sugar sprinkles/cinnamon mix....they were gone before I could get one!!!

Let me start off by saying that this cookie tastes INCREDIBLE! For taste I would give this 7 stars if I could. I don't know what I did wrong though. Mine looked nothing like the picture. I followed this recipe down to the letter. My first batch spread so heavily that it took up the entire cookie sheet & what then became 1 sheet of cookie instead of 10 individual cookies, were as thin as paper. On the second batch I replaced the sil pat with parchment paper, increased the size of the batter I dropped, didn't press with cin/sugar mix & only put 6 to a sheet and they did come out slightly better. Still more flat than a pancake, but not paper thin. Unfortunately I made these to go to a charity cookie walk, but since they are too thin & flimsy to stack, I had to make an emergency batch of something else.
