I omitted the nutmeg b/c I didn't have any, and used 2 granny smith, and 2 macintosh apples...delicious! My go to recipe for fruit crips now for sure! So easy, I won't even need to look at it again!
Well don't know what I did wrong with this recipe, I followed the directions to a tee but my apples came out all dry and the topping was just clumps. It had a good flavor but just dry.
I have made this twice and the topping is excellent, however..Next time I make this I think I will add a bit of sugar and cinnamon with the apples, I felt the apples lacked something. I used spy apples the first time and the suggested granny smith apples this time. Some nuts in the topping would be good too..but I reitterate the topping is excellent as is and there is plenty, no need to increase amount of topping as I have with other recipes. Good with vanilla ice cream! Enjoy!
Had a good flavor. Was definitely easy!

Delicious. I prepared this in individual ramekins a couple of hours ahead of time and popped them in the oven when we were ready for them. The topping is excellent. I used a mix of Granny Smith and Macintosh apples, as it's what I had on hand, and it did the trick. Using only Granny Smith would be ideal, though. Thanks.
Perfect as written - I just had to cook it an extra 15 minutes. Will make it again and again!
I cooked this recipe and it was a big hit with the family. The only thing that I didn't like was the crumble. It didn't "melt" together like I thought it would. It was still very dry and almost powder like after it was cooked. But, it tasted fantastic and I would definitely make it again.
I stock up on apples at the local market ($4.50/10 Royal gala) and a couple of times could not get through them fast enough. This apple crumble recipe was the first to pop on a Google search and it has been a hit with every group of friends I've made it for (and I've made it for six different groups), and shared it with someone from each group. Thanks so much!
Doubled the recipe, and used honey crisp apples - tossed them in about 1 tsp lemon juice and 2 tsp vanilla. baked in a 9x13 in pan and it turned out delicious. Great with french vanilla ice cream.
