  • Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat; add in onions; cook/stir until beginning to soften, 2-3 minutes.
  • Add in chili powder and cumin; cook/stir 1 minute.
  • Add beans, water, salsa, and salt; bring to a boil; decrease heat and simmer 10 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in lime juice.
  • Transfer half of the soup to a blender and puree.
  • Stir puree back into the saucepan; heat through.
  • Serve garnished with sour cream and cilantro.
