Whenever I don't have alot of time to make supper, this is so easy and quick. You can mix all the ingredients on wax paper and when finished just throw it away. My man loves venison this way.
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 2 teaspoons Mrs. Dash seasoning mix (original)
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon onion salt
- 2 lbs venison steak
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Mix together dry ingredients.
- Coat venison steaks with flour mixture.
- Melt butter over medium heat.
- Saute steaks in butter for 10 minutes or until done.
I cook and eat a lot of venison and have many delicious recipes. This one definitely rates high! very simple and quick. I used back straps cut one inch thick. I used powders instead of salts for the garlic and onion and added a small amount of regular salt. I had no Mrs. Dash and used a pinch of Crazy Mixed Up Salt. My oil was 2 parts butter to1 part bacon grease. Cast iron skillet, 7 minutes per side. my wife loved it! PERFECT! Made pan gravy with the drippings with more flour and milk. TOO GOOD!!!!
Love this recipe and that you can make changes to spices and it still is delicious! I rubbed ketchup on my steaks before breading them because I don't like it to be too gamey. Also, I only cooked mine 5 mins ea side because they started to burn, but came out perfect. Definitely a keeper recipe going in my box for later.
I've never written a review for any of the bazillion other recipes I've attempted at home before. To be real honest, it's because I am domestically challenged!!!! Almost everything I try to make turns out pretty awful, so when I made these and my husband DIDNT pour half a bottle of ranch over it, I was so happy! I used to love venison.... until I started cooking it!! Lol This is the first time I've made it and truly enjoyed it, and had more! My husband raved about it as well (in addition to not attempting to make his food taste like pure ranch!), so this will definitely become a staple in this house! I did do a few things different, since I didn't actually have the exact ingredients. Instead of salts I used garlic powder and onion soup mix, same measurements as the recipe calls for. And instead of Mrs dash, I used an all purpose seasoning (Frontier coop). Lastly, I thawed it in a can of Budweiser with a sprinkle of the all purpose in the fridge all day! Delicious!
