  1. This recipe turned out really well. I used veggie broth instead of water, and reduced the soy sauce to 1 T. because my broth was salted. The gravy was still a little on the salty side, but tasty. I also added some dried sage, thyme and parsley.

  2. This is honestly the best gravy recipe i’ve ever come across! I could pour it over every dish quite happily. PRAISE THE GODS FOR THIS GRAVY!!

  3. I've used this recipe several times and I find it to be a great base recipe. I add some rosemary and thyme to give it a bit more flavour, which I find complements this recipe very well. I've used this over potatoes, veggie burgers, veggie roasts, etc.

  4. Wonderful gravy. Used olive oil instead of margarine. Only real problem is the recipe said it would make two cups -I wasn't looking too closely and didn't realize until I already started that one cup of water isn't going to make two cups of gravy and I ended up with much less than I was counting on. Oh well -guess I'll have to double it next time. This is a nice recipe though because it uses ingredients I keep around.

  5. This is incredible. Better than any meat gravy I've ever had. I used Bragg Liquid Amino Acids instead of soy sauce and added a little fresh sage. Amazingly delicious!!!

Tweaks

  1. I followed the basics but added Nuttlex to make it vegan and a teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce, although even just following the recipe to the letter it still tasted amazing

  2. I added a bit more soy sauce, and rosemary and thyme.

  3. i doubled the recipe because at thanksgiving i tend to drown the food on my plate in gravy.

  4. Flour to cornflower and peri peri sauce

  5. I stumbled across this having no meat-based stock but I still wanted a gravy, and it was delicious! I substituted the margarine with olive oil (since I had no margarine or butter handy, grr) and it turned out wonderful. A little thick for my liking so I added a touch more water. Even my husband thoroughly enjoyed it! Great recipe, thank you!
