This recipe turned out really well. I used veggie broth instead of water, and reduced the soy sauce to 1 T. because my broth was salted. The gravy was still a little on the salty side, but tasty. I also added some dried sage, thyme and parsley.
Wonderful gravy. Used olive oil instead of margarine. Only real problem is the recipe said it would make two cups -I wasn't looking too closely and didn't realize until I already started that one cup of water isn't going to make two cups of gravy and I ended up with much less than I was counting on. Oh well -guess I'll have to double it next time. This is a nice recipe though because it uses ingredients I keep around.
This is incredible. Better than any meat gravy I've ever had. I used Bragg Liquid Amino Acids instead of soy sauce and added a little fresh sage. Amazingly delicious!!!
Delicious, easy, and quick. Tastes amazing on tofu turk'y roasts :) and mashed potatoes and biscuits and even by itself! Perfect for the holidays, love it. The only alteration I made was adding a bit of garlic powder(along with the cloves) and a bit more water than soy sauce. But that's really only cuz I'm not a big soy sauce fan haha :) it defiantly added to the flavor though. I will definitely be using this from now on :)
This was super yummy! I've always seemed to get gravy wrong but this time it tasted perfect!!! I used vegetable broth instead and a little more than a cup. I also sautéed Hing instead as don't eat onions (hence the need to make my own!). I used butter instead of margarine as didn't have any in the house and finally I added some nutritional yeast to the end product which I feel really brought out a gravy flavour. Will be using this recipe for the upcoming Xmas meals!!
Moved to Denmark and they don't do veggie gravy so this was so helpful and super tasty!
This is now my go-to gravy! I used vegan butter to make this vegan and added some ground sage and parsley! I will definitely make this again! My only complaint was that mine thickened a bit too much and was almost gloppy - easily fixable, I just had to add some more water to it. :)
Very tasty but the colour is completely different from the photo (mine was very pale)- maybe I didn't brown the onions enough (took it to golden brown as the recipe suggested) but I would take out half the soya sauce in future and add in Parisian browning liquid to get the colour. Will try to go much darker for the onions next time first though. I made a double batch and it still turned out nicely. Take your time with the roux, let its colour develop as well.
Good gravy!! Really, good, easy gravy!! I used 1 clove of garlic and one tablespoon of soy sauce. I know I'll be making this again and again. Thanks so much for posting the keeper recipe.
