  1. A very awesome recipe for hit and miss cooks like me! Very quick and easy moist cake to make for dessert! Would go beautiful with custard.

  2. Wonderful recipe! I've used it many times! I usually double the recipe for a 9"×13" pan because it goes so fast, and still comes out the same.

  3. I should have read the reviews before making this. 3/4 cups of sugar with 1 cup of flower and no butter is too sweet for me. I prefer the ratio of the sugar being half the flour or a little less. The topping also was a mess. Way too moist. I ended up adding a lot of flour to get something near a crumble. Cooked up nice, looks pretty, doesn't taste bad. Enjoy with black coffee. lol

  4. This coffee cake turned out moist but too sweet.

  5. Made twice because I thought I had made a mistake. There is definitely not enough milk or liquid for the amount of flour. The best recipe for this is the Betty Crocker one, grew up with making it from the red checked cookbook. http://www.geniuskitchen.com/recipe/betty-crocker-coffee-cake-circa-1973-224163

Tweaks

  1. I put in a little extra milk as i felt the cake mix was too dry as well as adding a little more brown sugar to make it super caramelly

  2. I used 3/4 cup of milk instead of 1/2 cup and added 1 teaspoon of vanilla to the batter for flavor.

  3. Next time, I will only add 1/2 cup of sugar instead of 3/4 cups. I successfully substituted Bob Redmill's gluten free flour. I made a topping of 1/4 cup of Stevia and 1/4 cup of brown sugar.

  4. 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce to replace egg, no flour in topping.

  5. I did use half spelt flour...turned out great
