- 1⁄4 cup butter or 1⁄4 cup margarine
- 1 quart strawberry, washed and hulled
- 1 cup self-rising flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1⁄2 cup evaporated milk
- Melt margarine or butter in 9x13 pan. Place strawberries in pan. Mix sugar, flour, and evaporated milk in a bowl and then pour over berries and spread across the pan. Bake at 350 degrees about 45 minutes. Should be golden brown when ready. Serve warmb with whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, or cool whip.
I just made this cobbler. I couldn't wait to eat it. loved, loved , loved it. The only change i made was to sprinkle the strawberries with a little sugar. I also didn't have evaporated milk, so I substitued reg milk. I'm sure it would be even better with evaporated. would like to see more recipes from you.
This was really good. It's at least as good as more complicated cobbler recipes and much faster and easier. I didn't have self-rising flour, so added 1.5 tsp baking powder and 1/2 tsp salt to a cup of regular flour. I had about 2/3 cup of cream that I wanted to use up, so I used that in place of the milk. Also reduced the sugar to 2/3 cup, and it was *plenty* sweet enough (could probably go with 1/2 cup even, esp if topping with ice cream). We ate it plain and loved it, but yes, vanilla ice cream melting over the top while the cobbler is warm would definitely be just right.
This was really good for something so quick and easy. I made a half recipe and, since I didn't want to open up a whole can for 1/4 cup evaporated milk, just used skim milk. I also used light margarine. This worked out just fine. I wasn't too sure about the batter since it looked pretty skimpy, but it rose well. Plus, I think this makes more than 6 servings. Would be great with some vanilla ice cream!
