This is a wonderful trifle, enjoyed by all. Our little store didn't have frozen pound cake so I made from scratch using Sour Cream Pound Cake which worked out fine. I only had one pkg. of cream cheese so went with it and added another cup of Cool Whip. It still tasted rich and lovely. In fact, next time I will just use the one, save a few calories (although the cake did not save any!!). I am having a hard time not opening the fridge and digging into the leftovers. Thanks for sharing your recipe, Charmie. Made for ZWT - Xtra Hot Dishes.
Soooo good! I used real whipped cream because I don't really like Cool Whip. I also halved the recipe and used yogurt cream cheese.I wish I had taken a better pic, but my camera died on me. Thank you so much for sharing , we all loved it. Made for Swizzle Chicks and ZWT6.
Oh my gosh! I had everything on hand except I had to use chocolate cake. I made 2 mini trifles and my DH and I polished them off! Good stuff Charmie! Made by a fellow Looney Spoon Phoodie for ZWT#6.
I made this for Xmas and did not review. So, here I am. This was absolutely delicious. We are giving my mother, who turned 93 on the 10th and my brother, who is turning 59 on the 29th a surprise birthday party. My nieces asked that I mae this for dessert. Will post a photo.
Made this for Christmas dessert, and everyone loved it! I used 1/2 of the cream cheese mixture in each of 2 layers, and then topped with Cool Whip instead of cream cheese mixture. It looked lovely and tasted oh-so-good! It was also incredibly easy to put together, so it is definitely a winner! Thanks for sharing, Charmie!
this was a real crowd pleaser! my husband also mentioned that this is now his favorite dessert. you will not be disappointed with this one. very light and not too heavy, also refreshing. I added a little vanilla to the cream cheese cool whip mixture to give it a bit more taste. I think next time I will also add a little powdered sugar to it to make it a little sweeter. This dessert is very easy to put together and looks great in the trifle bowl.
I MADE THIS FOR A FUNDRAISER@ WORK IT EARNED 20 BUCKS. thanx
Excellent!! I served this at a Christmas party with much success. Many asked for the recipe. Another helpful tip would be to make sure you leave enough time between adding the sugar to the sliced strawberries and putting the trifle together. The longer the strawberries sit in the sugar, the more juice it will provide. I pushed the time and didn't get too much strawberry juice to mix with the cake cubes. But it still turned out delicious. Thanks, Charmie, for yet another winner! :)
I agree with BMXmom a cross between strawberry shortcake and cheese cake. I added some blackberries to the strawberries and although mine was not as prety as the photo it sure tasted good!
This was super easy and delish!! My husband's first words "Man, this is gooooooooood!" LOL! I didn't use the orange juice due to personal preference and added a little sugar to the cream cheese about 1/4 cup before adding in the cool whip and 1 tsp vanilla. YUMMY!!
