This is a simple, handy recipe. I cut the sugar in half and added fresh garlic and onion, sliced black olives, and a splash of red wine. Nice over some angel hair pasta. Thanks Junebug.

Small number of ingredients, big taste...what an amazingly quick and delicious recipe! I didn't have the time or the patience to bother with an other spaghetti sauce recipe with a million ingredients that took over an hour to prep & cook. I read the measurements wrong and added a 1/2 tablespoon of garlic powder, oregano, basil, parsley, paprika, and forgot to add the bay leaf, and it still came out quite good. I just popped all the ingredients in and let it simmer for 15 mins. At first it was a tad sweet because of the brown sugar, but I added half of a freshly squeezed lemon to the sauce, let it simmer for another 10 mins. and it was perfect. I loved the explosion of flavor, so i think i'll stick to the more generous measurements from now on. This is an AMAZING recipe that tastes better than any bottled spaghetti sauce I've ever had!

I love sauce that stews for several hours, but if you don't have the time for that, this is a wonderful alternative. I used 1 chopped onion instead of a few tablespoons, added in a chopped green bell pepper, 1-14.5 oz can of chopped tomatoes, and cut the sugar down to 1 tablespoon.

Loved how quick and easy this was to make. It was a thin sauce, and a little sweeter than I prefer, but tasty. Added a dash of red wine which went well with the spices. Next time I will halve the sugar, but keep everything else the same.

Easy and fast. I used a 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes, but that was the only change. Decent recipe, but way too sweet. I used dark brown sugar, so that may have had something to do with it, but next time I will only use 1 tablespoon of sugar. Thank you for posting.

This was a good, quick easy sauce. Next time I will put in less sugar as it was too sweet for me. I live with meat lovers so I added some chopped up beef. Thanks for the recipe. :o)

Great recipe when you are in a pinch! Comes together quick and uses ingridents I always have on hand...
Added a whole onion and a can of mushrooms... Good stuff!

This recipe is especially good because you can keep all the ingredients on hand for weeks. I've enhanced the flavor slightly by using extra virgin olive oil, and a very thin layer of "original" style grated parmesan cheese, which melts over the top in the microwave (the lower fat versions of grated parmesan cheese don't seem to melt and are hardly lower in fat!) To make it even easier, I add canned chicken or tuna to the sauce before cooking. I make 4 servings according to the recipe, or double it and store the leftovers in the refrigerator. Very convenient, and above average in flavor.

Delicious! I whipped this together for a quick lunch today and it came out great! I actually left the brown sugar out all together because I felt like the tomatoes already have enough natural sugars. I didn't miss the brown sugar at all. I will definitely make this again!
