We love this! I don't have vermouth, so I just left it out. I steamed my shrimp to cut down the fat so that I could double the lemon sauce. Yummy! We have had it twice in the last week. This is a grerat fast supper after working all day. Grab crunchy bread and eat up!

A very good, straightforward recipe. We esp. liked the relatively small amount of fats required, but I did double the amt. of garlic, as we love it. It was very flavorful, though did not yield much sauce -- which was fine. It was very nice with a mushroom polenta.

I used 1 lb of shrimp and almost doubled the sauce. Absolutely excellent. Served this is a bowl and sopped up the sauce with a great crusty roll and though about making this again soon!! Made a great candle light and wine dinner for two. Thank you John.

Good Scampi! I will reverse the amount of lemon juice and vermouth next time, but that is my preference. Just the right amount of sauce. Thanks, Carole

Very good shrimp. I used white wine instead of vermouth. Thanks!

All I can say is...meh. It's funny, I have cooked this recipe twice. The first time I didn't let my pan cool enough & I browned the garlic (whoops!), was cooking from the memory of reading the recipe instead of a copy of the recipe & added the ingredients at the wrong times (& potentially wrong amounts)...and although the garlic was brown the sauce was outstanding. The last time I cooked it I followed the directions to a T...and it came out highly acidic tasting & I had to figure out how to salvage dinner. I don't get it. Basically...the recipe made as it stands, is "ok." As others have mentioned--the flavor fits more a profile of an acidic lemon-butter sauce than a true scampi taste. I might give it another shot in the future...maybe trying to "mess it up" again to recreate what I made the first time.
