This was good! It was a great place to start. I, of course, made some changes. We used a can of mixed veggies instead of green beans. In the meat sauce I added worcestershire sauce, red wine and a little tomato paste. I also omitted the egg white.
This was my first time making shepherds pie. My family loved it! I also added worchestershire sauce and some thyme for seasoning. I saw these ingredients frequently used when searching for other recipes of shepherds pie. Turned out great. Thanks:)
delicious! I used tomato sauce in place of the diced tomatoes because that's what I had on hand. Everyone loved it!
A great comfort food. i didnt have any fresh garlic, but granulated garlic was a fine substitute. Next time i will drain the beef more thouroughly, since there was some liquid on the bottom of the baking dish when i served this, but still, it was delicous!
It might be easy - but easy is my favorite! On a chilly fall evening, served with a salad and crusty bread as suggested- this is comfort food at it's finest-YUM. I made this almost as posted, I just browned the ground beef then added a little beef broth and worchestershire sauce to taste along with the garlic and onions for added flavor. I used home-made mashed potatoes with some garlic seasoning and cheddar cheese as well. I followed the suggestion of another reviewer and did not use the the egg white - it makes a skin on the potatoes. Thank you Mrs. Lumpy, a great recipe for a classic dinner!
This was my first time to make shepherd's pie so I was very nervous but the whole family loved it! I used ground deer meat, peas, and tomatoes with chilies, and tossed them all together instead of layering. Did not use the egg white but instead broiled it for a few minutes. I will definitely make this again!
I made exactly as recipe stated. Easy to make and very tasty. The only change I would make is to not put the egg white on the top. We didn't like the texture it gave the potatoes.
Deeeeelicious!! Didn't really measure the potatoes and perhaps we could have used a bit more. Subbed broccoli for green beans as it's what I have on hand. DH says we can have this meal ANYTIME!! Thanks, Mrs. Lumpy!
I too used corn, it was a very simple, delicious recipe, even better the next day, This is one recipe ill be making again in the future.
This was very good recipe. I also swapped corn for the green beans. I will be making this again. I did add worcestshire sauce and some hot sauce to the meat for flavoring. I also browned with some chopped green bell pepper too, I always add bell pepper in when browning hamburger.
