Easy Buttery Shepherds Pie

"This recipe is so easy, yet so delicious. You can change up the type of meat (I have used a combo of beef, chicken and/or sausage) and use whatever veges you choose. It always comes out a winner! Whenever I bring it to a carry-in, I am inevitably asked for the recipe! I highly recommend you use Certified Angus Beef when preparing this dish ... you will taste the difference!"

  1. Delicious! This was my first Shepherds Pie and my husband and I loved it!

  2. I've never had Shepherd's Pie before but DH has been asking for it. Mine took on a 'south of the border' flair since I added a poblano pepper, corn and topped with instant southwest mashed potatoes. Very tasty, thanks for sharing!

  3. I don't really like Shepherd's Pie we do in Quebec (beef, corn and mashed potatoes). But this version is so good. I love it and I'll do it again. I love all the veggies in it. I added green bell pepper. I love the sauce with the beef base (I used no-sodium). I heated the sauce in the microwave. I cooked the carrots in the microwave also. When the cheese was a little bit melted, I decided to put the oven at Broil to broil the cheese. Yummy! Thanks Cooks4_6 for a yummy meal :) Made for 123 hit wonders.

  4. I love Shepherd's Pie - usually I serve mine with corn... but my dbf doesn't like corn... so this was PERFECT!! Loved the added celery and carrots and LOVED THE CHEESE ON TOP!!! ;) Thanks Cooks! :) Made for Zaar Tag.

I am originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota and moved to Ohio in 1978. It was quite a culture shock going from the city to living next to the Amish. I spend most of my time cooking, cleaning and caring for my four kids. I have abandoned cookbooks and now cook from favorite, wilted recipe pages and the internet. I fell in love with my Italian family recipes (Scavo, Rotella, Scalzo, Micelli, Grande, Gigliotti) and my Mom's homecooked meals.
