These bars taste a lot like pecan pie and are so easy to make. I got this recipe from a fellow worker, whose grandmother makes them every Christmas--delish!!! Very few ingredients, and not time consuming. Enjoy!!!!
- Line ungreased cookie sheet with graham cracker squares.
- In saucepan, melt margarine and brown sugar.
- Bring to rolling boil and boil for 2 minutes.
- Stir in chopped pecans.
- Pour over graham crackers and spread evenly.
- Bake in 350° oven for 10 minutes.
- Allow to cool, and break squares into halves.
I have made these several times over the holidays and they are always a hit. I followed the recipe exactly and it comes out great everytime. Everywhere I carried them over the holidays I was asked for the recipe.
Delicious and easy! I may have overcooked the margarine and brown sugar mixture because I thought you needed to stir all the while. So, perhaps I did not recognize exactly *when* it started to boil. As a result the mixture was a touch hard to spread, but I will get it right the next time. FYI chefs, in one sleeve of graham crackers there are 10 whole crackers which made the 20 squares. How incredibly simple and soooooo darn good. My friends are all moaning and groaning in a Pecan Bar munching stupor, crying out for "more, more, more!". FANTASTIC! Made our Friday afternoon sweet :-) I prefer butter, so I subbed that for the marg. They turned out perfect.
