Easy 'no Beat' Chocolate Cake With Frosting

This is the quickest, easiest cake I have ever made that always comes out moist and perfect! I got it from a friend and have had many requests to pass it on to other friends and family.

  1. Heat oven to moderate temp (180C).
  2. Grease large square baking tin.
  3. Into a large bowl sift flour and cocoa, then mix in sugar.
  4. Place on top of dry ingredients butter, golden syrup, bi-carb and vanilla.
  5. Pour over boiling water and mix well until all butter is melted.
  6. Cook for 45 mins to 1 hour or until cooked ( when skewer comes out clean).
  7. CHOCOLATE FROSTING.
  8. Sift icing sugar and cocoa into a bowl.
  9. Add all other ingredients and mix well.
  10. Spread on top of cooled cake.

So easy and delicious. We didn't get round to eating it until 2 days after cooking, and it was so moist, similiar to a chocolate mud cake!

I was looking for chocolate cake recipes that were easy + simple to make without egg. I tried this one the other night, substituted the golden syrup for maple syrup (it was all I had!) and added big chunks of cherry ripe into the batter. I must say that this was the easiest cake I've ever made, and it came out perfect. It tasted delicious, and it was really rich so you can only eat a small slice at a time! The frosting came out perfect as well, which surprised me because I've always had trouble creating the perfect frosting. I'd really recommend this recipe to anyone!
