Easy Garlic Chicken

"A quick, easy chicken recipe for days when you don't want to spend time in the kitchen. Even finicky people will eat it. Goes great with traditional potatoes or rice. As it bakes, the garlic and sugar will melt into a sweet glaze. Customize with your favorite herbs or spices. After many comments, I have reduced the temperature at which to cook the chicken. I have also added instructions to wrap your baking sheet or casserole dish in aluminum foil for easier clean-up."

  • Preheat oven to 450°F Line a baking dish or cookie sheet with aluminum foil and lightly coat with cooking spray or lightly brush with oil.
  • In small sauté pan, sauté garlic with the oil until tender.
  • Remove from heat and stir in brown sugar. Add additional herbs and spices as desired.
  • Season chicken with salt and pepper. .Place breasts in a prepared baking dish and cover with the garlic and brown sugar mixture.
  • Bake uncovered for 15-30 minutes, or until juices run clear. Cooking time will depend on the size and thickness of your chicken.

  1. The basics were there for this recipe, and with the help of some of the comments, we had a lovely, easy weekday dinner! Used 3 tbsp brown sugar instead of 4, browned the chicken in butter beforehand, added a splash of cooking sherry and chicken stock, plus parsley flakes, oregano, basil and thyme, cooked at 425 F for 20 minutes and broiled for about 5-10 minutes more. Topped with more parsley flakes and fresh ground pepper and it was great.

This recipe has the right idea just needs a little tweeking.<br/>It was a little dry. <br/>I sauted the garlic in butter and 3 tbs of soy sauce.<br/>Remove from heat and add 1/2 the amount of brown sugar suggested. I added a touch of ginger.<br/>Pour half over chicken and broil for 10 mins.<br/><br/>This is much more tender when you broil it.<br/>After 10 mins pour remaining mixture over top and broil til garlic starts to brown.
     
  4. I used a non-stick, oven safe pan, seared the chicken breasts on both sides and then slid them into the oven in the pan at 425. Baked for 15 minutes (they were large) and it turned out AMAZING. My boyfriend said I could make chicken like this any time. I added red pepper flake and a tiny sprinkle of salt. Delish!
     
  5. First: I highly recommend lining your dish with tin foil. It makes for much easier cleanup. <br/><br/>But now for the real review. This dish is delicious! It was so fast and easy to prepare! It came oh so juicy and tender. I baked at 500 for 20 minutes, and that was just enough time, though I realize that some ovens may vary. I recommend checking at 15-20 minutes so as to not over cook. If you truly sautee the garlic, then the garlic should not be overpowering, unless you are not a fan of garlic to begin with. Also, make sure you salt and pepper it! If you don't, it very well could turn out bland. I recommend serving with something slightly spicy to balance out the mildly sweet taste taste of the chicken (but that may also just be because I love spicy food!!). Enjoy!

  1. I followed the recipe exactly. When it was done baking, I removed the chicken to a platter, put the juices in a sauce pan, added 1 Tb. of soy sauce and cooked it until it began to reduce and thicken. I drizzled this mixture over the chicken. Everyone loved it! I might try reducing the brown sugar to 2 Tb instead of 4.
     
  2. This recipe was good! I found this recipe on Pinterest and I always read reviews before trying things myself to see if anything needs to be altered. The seasonings seem to be kind of whatever you want them to be in this recipe, so I generously salted and peppered my chicken, (I used tenderloins instead of breasts) sprinkled some onion powder, dried oregano leaves, and just a hint of Tony Chachere's for a bit of spice since I did not have any red pepper flakes like a lot of people recommended. Then in a small saute pan, I melted a half stick of butter (instead of oil, to give my chicken some moisture and richness) and mixed in 4 small teaspoons of minced garlic (from a jar), and 3 tablespoons of brown sugar instead of 4. Poured it over the chicken, and baked at 450 for about 20-25 minutes. Surprisingly it was still very juicy and quite good! I served with peas and sweet potatoes with butter and cinnamon sugar and my husband and I both cleared our plates completely!

  5. I%u2019ve now found a replacement for my teriyaki chicken!!! I%u2019m allergic to soy and teriyaki recipes demand high amounts of it (in which I still eat anyways because i love teriyaki: /). This chicken tastes EXACTLY LIKE TERIYAKI CHICKEN! And it is DELICIOUS! And I don%u2019t even have to use soy sauce! Who knew?<br/><br/>I made this for 6 servings. And i don%u2019t like chicken breast so I used drum sticks instead. I marinated the plain chicken in the fridge with nature seasoning for an hour and later added in some of the garlic/b.sugar marinade to marinate for another hour. Then followe the recipe as far as cooking. DELICIOUS! My sister loved it and she is very picky.
