This is the cake recipe I have been looking for for years! It was easy to make and turned out light and tasty, with a texture and flavour just like childhood birthday cakes. Perfect - thank you.

Recently diagnosed with high cholesterol and advised to avoid eggs, I was looking for egg-less cake recipe and stumbled upon this. The cake turned out not as I expected of a sponge cake. The texture was moist but not light; it's a little heavy. It's actually tasted good. I'd think this would make great muffins. As I had no self raising flour, I substituted with plain flour mixture here (http://www.food.com/recipe/homemade-self-rising-flour-substitute-29318). Thanks for sharing this recipe!

This cake saved me as I had no eggs and needed a cake within 3 hours! I was a little apprehensive about the timing after other comments here but found the recipe timing perfect - I have a fan oven and made sure it was fully pre-heated before putting it in. Perhaps if you don't have a fan oven you could try raising the temperature. It was very tasty and enjoyed by everyone. Thanks for a great recipe.

My search for an eggless sponge cake to make for my nice who has an egg allergy brought me to Zaar. This turned out very well - quite soft, nice texture. Thank you for sharing.

This cake was just what I was looking for to serve with fresh berries and ice cream. It went together easily, was not too sweet and the flavor was really good. Thanks!

I made this cake for my son's 1st birthday party with the mommy group. I topped it with a thin layer of banana pudding and fresh bananas, and it was perfect to serve to the other one year olds, without loading them with sugar. A very nice cake indeed. Will definitely make again (and again) for company. Had no problems with baking. Thank you for sharing.

I followed the instructions as given in the recipe and made this cake today. The baking time was very less. I baked this first at 200C for 10 minutes, then at 150C for 10 minutes, then at 160C for 5 minutes and then at 150C for 20 minutes. The center of the cake is still not set. It is still soggy...and the taste of this cake is not up to the mark. It is not at all sweet. I'm sorry, Anu, but this one was a total disappointment.
