Easy and fast donut recipe

Paula Dean made these and all she did was punch a hole in the biscuit with her thumb. I use a store brand biscuit (they have no butter) so that my dairy allergic son can have donuts. My variations: 1) melt chocolate and dip the donut (then cover with sprinkles); 2) dust with powdered sugar; and 3) fry without the hole and pipe in custard, jelly, or whipped cream. Dip in chocolate or dust with powdered sugar. YUMMY!

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 10 refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
  • 473.18 ml sugar
  • 9.85 ml cinnamon

Directions

  1. Cut or tear each biscuit in half.
  2. Roll in palm of hand to finger shape.
  3. Stretch and join ends together.
  4. Drop in hot lard at 350 degrees.
  5. Brown on both sides.
  6. Drain on absorbent paper.
  7. Drop in paper sack with mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Shake until coated.
