Questions & Replies

  1. Same question as some others: what temp? The flour coating was kind of mealy. Should it be crisp?

  2. It was good but the meat was tough. A bit like liver taste. Was it the meat or the way I cooked it.

  3. What is a board

  4. What temp do you cook it at?

  5. Dredge w egg?

Reviews

  1. I changed this up a little and it turned out great. I sauteed onions, peppers, and mushrooms in butter in a pan. While this was going on I prepared the flour with seasoned salt and paprika and some Montreal steak seasoning. No other salt or pepper was added. Once the vegetables were done took them out of the pan and add a little more butter. Then coat the steaks in the flour mixture and fry. Meat was pretty tender and had good flavor. Served the meat with the vegetables layered on top. Very nice.

  2. I took the advice of a couple of reviewers and skipped the onions. I used my favorite beef grilling seasoning. The cube steaks were cooked on medium heat. The results were a quick and delicious protein portion for my noon meal.

  3. This recipe is really good I am used to making cubed steak in the oven but this way is even better and I will keep making it this way

  4. Luv this recipe. I substitute garlic powder, onion salt & season salt for the steak grill seasoning

  5. The best cube steak recipe is one where the cube steak is braised. Not for a night when the meal needs to be quick, but on a weekend, try braising, using beef broth that has been reduced. The flour on the cube steak and broth will make a sauce-you will use a fork to cut-perfect.

Tweaks

  1. Fresh onions instead of dried, minced which tend to burn easily when frying in butter

  2. Easy, easy, easy! I substituted dried minced onions for a tsp of onion powder. Followed the rest of the recipe and the cube steak was well-seasoned and tasty. Preferred cooking in butter instead of oil.

  3. I used my favorite Chef's Seasoning mix and skipped the onions in the skillet. Also used a grill pan since it was handy. Once the steaks were done I mixed a tablespoon of flour into the pan drippings and added 3/4 cup of beef stock. Brought it to a boil to make a simple gravy.

  4. I subbed some sliced onions instead of dried. I was only making for 2 so I didn't use many, just about 1/4 - 1/3 C. It's a matter of taste.

  5. This was Awesome! No leftovers tonight!
