This was good and easy to make. I added a bunch of seasoning to the ground chuck and "doctored" up the beef gravy a bit adding seasoning and mushrooms. I also used brown rice as that is what I buy. Made for a good quick dinner. I also liked this because it is made with ingredients I normally have on hand. My kids ate this up.
DH brought home a big bag of frozen burgers from the big box store, and I've been looking for ways to use them other than in hamburger buns. These were so easy and tasted great. Gravy and rice seems like an unlikely pairing, but it worked well together.
This is real comfort food! I practically lived on similar meals in my college (poor) days! (of course ground chuck was MUCH cheaper then!) :) I added a can of drained mushroom pieces to the gravy. Thanks for bringing back memories!
My DH loved this! It was easy, fairly quick and tasty! This will be made often! Thanks Kizzikate!
Wonderful home cooking. Talk about your comfort food. It lives up to it's name of easy. It's a snap to get this started and then leave it on a slow simmer to finish. I gave it 15 mins and the burger was very well done in that time. The only thing I did differently was to mix some seasoned pepper into the meat instead of putting it in the pan. DH simply loves it.
This was so good we inhaled it. The only change I made was to use brown rice instead of white. I also added some onion to the meat mix as I have to have onion in everything. Everyone here thanks you for a very good and hearty meal. It will be a regular for us. Next I'm going to add some veggies to make it a one dish meal. Thanks Kizzikate, this made a very good meal for us. Jan
