This is a casserole that my Mom used to make for me and my brothers.

  1. Saute onion in butter.
  2. Add stew meat and brown slightly.
  3. Put in 9x13-inch baking dish and add soy sauce, mushrooms, chestnuts, and pepper.
  4. Cover and bake at 300 for 1 1/2 hours.
  5. Serve over rice.

This was almost too easy and tasted fantastic. After the beef was done, I used the liquid to make gravy for mashed potatoes. Yummy!! The whole family enjoyed this...it's a definite keeper.
