Easy Baked Apples

"This comes from my Hungry Girl cookbook, these are my personal changes - i prefer slicing the apples before baking, and i also use Gala apples (since that's what I normally eat), and i used enough soda to cover the apples (more than 12 oz.), so adapt to your preferences :-)"

  1. So I adapted this a bit based on what I had on hand. Perhaps I shouldn't be rating this since I did change it up a bit but the stars are for such a great idea! I used pears instead of apples, and regular wild cherry pepsi. I also just used a cinnamon/sugar mix rather than the artificial sweetener. I baked it a bit longer so the sugar caramelized a bit on the pears and the pepsi became a syrup. Served with vanilla bean ice cream. Super yummy and made the house smell WONDERFUL!

  2. Baked apples have always been a favorite of mine, I can remember my Mother making when I was a child. These were easy to make and oh so good. Thanks for posting this recipe. Made for PAC Fall 2009.

  3. This was a delicious guilt-free dessert. I followed your recommendation and sliced the apples but left the skin on to give the apples some additional texture. I used Granny Smiths which gave a nice balance to the sweetness of the soda and splenda. I used Black Cherry Fresca and Brown Sugar Splenda. After 45 minutes the apples were tender and not too mushy. This dish was wonderful topped with Cool Whip. I know I'll be making this again soon. Thank you so much for posting! Reviewed for PAC - Spring '09.

I work as a pharmacist for ACME markets, and as a consultant for The Pampered Chef...but, the best perk is all the days I get off, and getting to spend that time with my family and friends. I like attempting to be healthy - getting outdoors, working out. I like to rock climb, ski, and run races - competition drives me. I have 2 amazing goldendoodles, who drive me insane at times, but I love them. I love stupid gadgets, and just wish I had more room to store all the ones I've already gathered so I could get more. I can't stand it when people aren't honest - I'd rather hear that you hate me from your mouth than have you tell me I'm wonderful and know you're lying to my face. <img src="http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j10/housedaughter/hiswap.jpg" border="0" alt="H and I"> with personalchef <img src="http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr336/jess4freedom/Zaar%20banners/saltpepper_amtag.jpg" border="0" alt="Salt and Pepper"> with NELady <img src="http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w115/bugh8er/St%20Pats/4811_68275.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"> with CelestialShannon <img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/CookbookParticipation.jpg"> with morganegeiser <img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/Permanent%20Collection/PACSpring09Participation.jpg"> adopted AnnieLynne, SoupCookie, and AnorexicLenka <img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/Permanent%20Collection/PACSpring09Iwasadopted.jpg"> by DreamoBway <img src="http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj81/HokiesLady65/FUNANDGAMESSWAPPB.jpg"> with NELady <embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://w490.photobucket.com/pbwidget.swf?pbwurl=http://w490.photobucket.com/albums/rr266/Acadia/d065f045.pbw" height="300" width="400"> with ChefJean <img src="http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w115/bugh8er/food%20and%20swaps/antbanner.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"> with Granny Moses <img src="http://i474.photobucket.com/albums/rr105/sherrysbanners/bbqbanner.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"> with Mandylou80 <img src="http://i490.photobucket.com/albums/rr266/Acadia/Banners/CoffeeTeaSwap3.jpg"> with OneYetTwo <img src="http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j166/ZaarNicksMom/Animation6.gif"> adopted selfmadegirl, Mrs.J, and Blue_Milkshake <img src="http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j166/ZaarNicksMom/PACsticker-Adopted.jpg"> adopted by 4-H Mom and from the Orphanage by Sydney Mike <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v51/tiggrr34/HolidayOrnamentSwapTag2c-1-1-1.jpg"> with farmwife <img src="http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd235/MidwestMaven/09holidayparticipationbanner.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"> with Karen=^..^= <img src="http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j184/cjmcqb/food/spbanner.gif" border="0" alt="Photobucket"> with AuntWoofieWoof
