directions

  • Stir together flour, cocoa, sugar, baking powder, salt, vanilla, water and oil until the batter is smooth and chocolate-colored.
  • Pour the batter into greased and floured cake pan.
  • Bake 13 to 15 minutes or until you see the sides of the cake separate from the pan. Remove cake and cool. Frost as desired.
  • Makes 1 layer cake.

  2. How can I make A vannla cake with this recipe because my friend really likes vanilla cakes
     
  3. Do I need vanilla extract to make a cake?
     
  4. 4 teaspoons all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons cocoa 1 tablespoon sugar ETC...it seems as though these measurements, in teaspoons, is incorrect...would not be much of a sheet cake. Please correct, as it looks delicious!

  1. I had a recipe similar to this before. Very similar. It was a recipe to be made as a quick sunday dinner desert in a cast iron skillet! I think it even included a quick and easy chocolate icing to be whipped up in minutes. Both from ingredients most cooks already have on hand. Very nice, Thank you.
     
  2. Haven't tried it yet, but looking at the ingredients, I think I will add some sour cream for more moistness, and maybe a little more cocoa and sugar. I'll let yall know.
     
  3. Woww!! :-) it was awesome but just went a bit dry.. else it was gr8 coz everyone lovvvved it! :-)
     
  4. A little dry, but amazing once we topped it with chocolate ganache! We baked it in the rectangle sheet pan and then cut it into thirds to layer.
     
  5. I thought I read it by mistake that this recipe only calls for 4 tsps of flour. I was looking for an easy bake cake for my 3 year old sho just decided he wants to have a cake. Surprisingly, thsi turned out to be really good. I baked it in my toaster oven using cupcake molds. I was on;y able to make two half-filled cupcakes. I put a small dollop of whipped cream on top and we were both happy. I teach my child portion control when it comes to sweets and this fit us perfectly.

  2. So far my kids favorite of the homemade recipes we've tried pretty darn good and we used applesauce instead of oil still turned out fabulous!!
     
  3. Very good and simple for the kiddo to make. We used milk instead of water. Thanks for the recipe!
