  1. I made the Apple Cobbler tonight and it came out delicious!!! I used granny smith and gala apples which were perfect. I read comments and changed the process slightly by tossing the apples in some of the sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg mix and then adding the butter into the dry mix. My dry mix turned out like a wet dough. Once I sprayed my glass dish with Pam I spreaded a few apples in pan then spreaded some of the mix over the apples, then added the rest of the apples and spreaded last of the mix on top. In the last 10 minutes of cooking I sprinkled some sugar on top. I cooked a total of 40 minutes.

  2. Delicious. This to me tastes like Apple crisp without the oats. I wasn't sure when I read the reviews if we'd like the crispy top, but it exceeded our expectations. I added in a bit of nutmeg, ginger, and a pinch of ground cloves.

  3. This is a fantastic recipe. I actually made a mistake and added the melted butter to the flous/sugar mixture (I also added a pinch of nutmeg & clove). I spread it over the top of the apples anyway and baked to a golden brown color. Delicious!! I served it to Youth Group to rave review. I also use Granny Smith, Fuji, and Red Delicious apples.

  4. I made this recipe as written (Odd, even for me...) and it was delicious! I have read the other reviews and their suggestions may work well (especially the 1/2 brown 1/2 white sugar) but this really is great as is! And if you have a handy dandy apple peeler/corer/slicer thingy, it comes together in just a few minutes. When a recipe is a kid-pleaser, it's a keeper. :)

  5. Like another person, I made the mistake of mixing the butter into the topping. It was wonderful, the second time, I followed the recipe as written and was not as happy with the results. I had butter at the bottom and the crumble was not as crunchy as I would have hoped. However, the butter mixed in was excellent.

Tweaks

  1. 1/3 cup of reg sugar 1/3 cup of brown sugar 1/2 cup flour 1/2 cup oatmeal Yum

  2. I cheated and used canned apples. I also made two layers of the cinnamon sugar flour coating. I used brown sugar instead of white. I put a layer on the bottom (flour, egg, cinnamon, brown sugar, melted butter) with nutmeg, cloves and ginger. Then l spread the apples on top of the bottom flour mixture. Lastly, I put on another topping of the flour mixture on top of the apples (the exact flour mixture l put on the bottom.) I also baked mine in a 8x8 disposable foil pan in my toaster oven. I baked it for an hour. And it came out awesome. :)

  3. I like to add a pinch of nutmeg when I make it with peaches. I also toss my fruit with a bit of lemon juice.

  4. I double the apples. My family gobbled it up!

  5. I mixed all the ingredients together (adding in the apples last)
