I found this in a Taste of Home magazine. My son and I had fun making these. Hope yopu enjoy.
- 1 (20 ounce) jar marshmallow cream
- 1⁄4 cup creamy peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine, melted
- 1 (5 ounce) can chow mein noodles
- 1 cup pastel M&M'
- confectioners' sugar
- In a mixing bowl, beat marshmallow cream, peanut butter.
- and butter until smooth.
- Fold in noodles and M& M's.
- Chill until easy to.
- On waxed paper, form mixture by 1/3 cupfuls into 3 inch nests.
- for 30 minutes.
- Place several M& M's in each nest.
My son and I enjoyed making these as well....the ingredients were a little off for me though. I used a whole 12 oz. bag of chow mein noodles and a 7 oz. can of marshmallow creme (same 1/4 cup of pb) and it seemed like the texture was fine. I thought that using a 20 oz. jar would be too much marshmallow. I thought they were sweet enough like this. I formed mine in cupcake tins and put in the refrigerator and they held up great. Very cute and a nice decoration - the kids liked them too!
The only jar of marshmallow cream carried in my market was only 7 oz; but this seemed to be the right size to get a good consistancy. I left out the M and M's completely and filled the nests with jelly beans after forming them. They were a bit sticky at first (even after chilling, but by leaving them out on waxed paper on the counter overnight, they dried out enough to easily handle them and place aroung the table. I was not all that fond of the taste; but my grandchildren thought they were a great treat (even if it was only for the visual affect).
I have mixed feelings about these nests. On the one hand, it doesn't take much imagination to come up with a very unappetizing reason for why the nests are white...8);) On the other hand, they taste delicious, and are totally addictive!!:) I left the m&m's out of the marshmallow mixture, and just added more chow mein noodles. They flattened out a bit in the fridge, but were very easy to reshape right before serving. Next time I might keep them in wax paper-lined muffin molds in the fridge or something.
