Easter Egg Surprise

"I haven't tried this yet, but I can't wait to see if it works! Write secret messages on hard cooked eggs - messages that appear only when the egg is shelled and ready to eat. You put the design on the eggs BEFORE they are cooked."

• Ingredients: 3
• Yields: 12 eggs
• Serves: 6

ingredients

• 12 eggs, raw (or as many as you want to use)
• 1 ounce alum
• 1⁄2 pint vinegar

directions

1. Dissolve the alum in the vinegar.
2. Use a small paint brush to write messages or draw designs on the egg shells.
3. Let the solution dry thoroughly.
4. Boil the eggs as you usually would.
5. ***There will be no trace of writing on the shell when the eggs are served, but inside on the hard-cooked egg white, the writing or design will appear bright and clear.

DO NOT TRY. No offense, but this simply did not work one iota. Too bad. Fortunately, I had the presence of mind not to tell the kids about my experiment.
