Easiest Fried Rice (Using Uncooked Rice)

"Found this on an Aussie Website and have used it ever since. It is the easiest fried rice I've ever made and it is so good. I have often wanted to cook fried rice and I have had no leftover cooked rice ready well you don't use leftover rice for this recipe so it is a very handy recipe."

ingredients

  • 1 cup rice, uncooked (I use Basmati)
  • 1 -2 cup chicken stock
  • 2 -3 slices bacon, cooked & chopped
  • 2 tablespoons shallots (green onions)
  • 1 cup prawns, cooked (or add chicken, pork or anything you like instead)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (if using prawns)
  • 2 -3 tablespoons soy sauce, to taste

directions

  • Cook the eggs in a pan with a quick spray of olive oil. I break the yolks and run a knife through them and cook until just set then cut into small strips.
  • Fry rice until browned, add stock and cook until moisture is absorbed and rice is tender.
  • Add shallots, then egg and bacon pieces, cooked prawns and heat through.
  • Add lemon juice (if using prawns) and soy sauce to taste.

  1. Perfect. I first found a similar recipe in a kid's cookbook which said to fry the uncooked rice in oil first. Brilliant. It was always too soggy before I knew this method.

  2. This recipe is a guaranteed success!! I didn't have some of the ingredients so I just replaced them with other things and it still tasted great! 5/5!

  3. Tasted just like my Fave restaurant. I made some changed to accommodate some vegan friends, we used veggie stock instead of chicken and left out the egg and it was still delicious for everyone.

Hi I’m Glen and I live in Sydney with my wonderful husband Ross. We have eight beautiful grandchildren, two of them live near us in Sydney, two live in Western Australia, two more live in Queensland and another two in northern NSW. I can't imagine how I ever managed before I found Zaar - I use it regularly to plan meals and find new and interesting recipes and most important of all to keep track of our family favourites. <embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://wmg.photobucket.com/pbwidget.swf?pbwurl=http://wmg.photobucket.com/albums/v209/rglgrl/1159781795.pbw" height="240" width="360"></embed> The photos are of our beautiful grandchildren. <embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://wmg.photobucket.com/pbwidget.swf?pbwurl=http://wmg.photobucket.com/albums/v209/rglgrl/1160294339.pbw" height="360" width="360"></embed> <a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/rglgrl/Collagez520-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a> <img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/untitled.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting">
