Oh, shoot me, pls!! Posted a photo but not the review. How rude is that! Needless to say--it's terrfic! Perfect for Super Bowl or just pre-Mexican dinner. Love the addition of the chopped tomatoes. Gives the dip a zing that is left out of other chili dip recipes!
This really is a 5-star recipe!! The only sub I made is a 1/2 cup salsa for the 1/2 cup tomatoes as I am not a 'raw tomato' fan. I got raves over this recipe and I actually had to print it out twice to give to family! I like that this doesn't use velvetta as most other cheesy dips because I like the taste of fresh cheese! Will definitely make again. (Also - this keeps beautifully on low/warm in crock... just stir very occasionally).
Very popular at New Year's Eve. Thickened and dipped better as it cooled. Some people may prefer a few drops of heat as this recipe is fairly mild.
I make a slightly different version of this for my own snacky meals when I am home alone. I don't blend the sour cream and cheese into the chili, but instead just layer it on top with the diced tomatoes and onions. The contrast of the spicy chili and creamy sour cream and cheese is such a pleasure, and the fresh tomatoes and onions give it an extra punch. Fritos scoops are a must with this dip. :)
I knew I would love this recipe - and I was right. It's dynamite indeed :) This would be great for a casual night with friends, or unexpected guests, as it's items many have on hand. I left out the tomatoes, and added 1 Tbsp of chopped poblano/jalapenos and a dash of cayenne. Served with Fritos scoops & cold beer - Yummy!!!
This is so good, I am now required to make/bring this dip to every party! It's great. I used my homemade chili and pretty much doubled the recipe except for the sour cream. Instead of tomatoes and green onions I used a chunky fresh salsa. It's very good with torilla chips. Thanks!!!
