  1. This is a nice sauce! To me it is not in any way a bbq sauce but it did have a nice flavor. I was looking for a more typical bbq sauce so I added more vinegar and some brown sugar to give it more of a tangy/sweet flavor. I also pureed the mixture to give it a smoother texture. Thanks for sharing your recipe! Made for My3Chefs 2013

  2. I'm not rating this recipe as I have not tried it. The copy of this recipe I have says it's a Updated Recipe and it is from The BBQ Issue of Bon Appetit magazine. My copy is slightly different it calls for 4 tbl (1/2 stick) butter, 2 1/2 c canned tomatoes pureed in a blender or food processor, 1/4 c distilled white vinegar, 1 c finely chopped onions. It says combine the ingredients in a nonreactive saucepan over med-high heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to med-low and simmer, stirring often for 15-30 mins. Store in an airtight glass container or jar in the refrigerator if not using immediately. Makes about 2 1/2 cups. Just some history it says this was Ike's favorite barbecue sauce and is a great addition to any summer get-together. It says it's simple to make, it's ideal as a finishing sauce to spread on grilled or barbecued meat once they're cooked. A splash of Tabasco to this savory sauce is sure to complement any grilled summer dish. This sounds yummy and picture I seen looks yummy. Thanks for posting! Christine (internetnut)
