Dump Chicken With Apples - OAMC

"The theory is you dump this in a bag and freeze to pull out later. There are many variations which I will post separately but it's amazingly easy to make these up and have a different "dump" chicken every week!"

  1. From the reviews previously I was a little afraid to give this recipe a try. However I decided I maybe could change it up a little to give it more flavor. So here is what I did: Instead of the apple pieces, I substituted 1 cup of apple butter spread. In place of the green onions, I added 1/2 of a small chopped onion and omitted the chicken bouillon altogether. The juices from the chicken blended well with the applebutter and onion and it browned nicely in the oven. Much more flavorful. Next time I am going to add a few red pepper flakes for some kick.

  2. Not out of this world awesome but not bad either. I used 3 apples and I did peel them. Chicken was very moist but just didn't have a lot of flavor. May try it again and add some brown sugar and some butter to it.

  3. This was okay. I wish I had peeled that apples and that there were more apples. Only DD ate the apples b/c of the weird texture of the peel after baking. The chicken itself was nice and moist and flavorful though.

  4. I found this same recipe on another site and gave it a try. I've tried many different dump chicken recipes, and I think this was probably the least favorite of them all. Not a single one of us liked it even just a little. The apples were mushy and bland, the sauce was not at all tasty, and the flavors didn't really go with the flavor of chicken (IMHO).

  5. Very good freezer meal. Chicken was moist, but not as flavorful as I had hoped. Needs more apples (which are good baked!), and maybe additional seasoning for next time.

I live in Las Vegas. I was lucky enough to run into Recipezaar around Nov. 2000 and got hooked quickly. I am a cookbook collector and have been collecting recipes for as long as I can remember. My DH had to build in shelves for all my cookbooks! I like to dabble with OAMC and for a few years hosted the Budget/OAMC forum with some great people over there. Even though I don't work in the forum any longer I've set up a lot of cookbooks for the purpose of OAMC and stretching food that might be helpful. Please feel free to check them out! I go on food jags and cooking jags! Please come say hi to me and chat on facebook. I currently host a blog for saving money through finding deals and coupons if you are interested. Most of the time I try to cook and have a good dinner on the table but I'll be honest enough to say there is still fast food occasionally in the budget! I have had such wonderful support here whenever I need it. Thank you all for being here! Just a quick note on how I rate recipes: ? 5 stars - This recipe is perfect. (My DH is truly a critic and doesn't give 5's unless it's amazing) I would recommend it to others and would definitely make again. ? 4 stars - This recipe was good but I would change something in it next time. ? 3 stars - This is a recipe I would not make again but it was OK ? 2 stars - This recipe I would not make again and we didn't like it at all ? 1 star - This recipes did not work out/taste was unappealing and wouldn't make again
