Aspartame does not break down into formaldehyde; this is an urban myth that has been debunked on several sites, including Snopes.com
Just a little comment about diet drinks/yogurt sweetened with aspartame. Heating it could cause its break down into formaldehyde. Do not use it in baking! But I think diet 7up is safe, but just don't use Sprite =) Haven't tried the recipe yet, but looks very easy!!
I made this with Oregon strawberries & raspberries (both red and golden), an angel food cake mix, and a generic 0-calorie lemon-lime soda. It turned out so good. It's reminiscent of dumplings...and so easy to make.
I used blueberries and peaches and this is so good! I can't believe it could taste so much like the original version with all that butter!
So good and so easy. I didn't have 7Up so I used diet cranberry Sprite. I also added fresh cherries to the fruit. I can see many variations for this great recipe.
Very easy and Very Yummy will make again! I used Strawberries and blueberries!
I made this recipe for PAC and I'm SO glad I did. This was VERY good! I decided to use strawberries and blackberries (I don't care that much for raspberries and the blueberries were too expensive). The cake was wonderful. I've already had 2 servings. I put a dollop of fat-free whipped topping on it when I served it. Mmmmm. Thanks for sharing such a good recipe.
Delicious! Will be making this again, however, next time I will need to cook it a bit longer.
This is an awesome treat!! It's great warmed up with a little ice cream.
