Drunken Pasta With Beets and Sausage

I got this basic idea from Rachael ray but vamped it up to be my own

• Total Time: 35 mins
• Prep Time: 20 mins
• Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients:

Serves: 4-6

Yield: 4.0 cups

• 3 cups water
• 1 cup red wine
• sea salt
• 2 cups penne pasta
• 2 medium beets, peeled and grated
• 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
• 1 medium red onion, diced
• 3 minced garlic cloves
• 1 lb sweet Italian sausage
• 2 tablespoons fresh basil

Directions:

1. add wine to the water ans salt and boil.
2. add pasta and cook til al dente.
3. In a skillet sautee onions and garlic in olive oil.
4. add sauage and brown then drain off fat.
5. add grated beets.
6. serve mix over pasta.
