This is from 8th grade Home Economics Class.
- 473.18 ml flour
- 4.92 ml salt
- 1.23 ml baking soda
- 14.78 ml baking powder
- 29.58 ml shortening
- 236.59 ml buttermilk
- Mix flour, salt, baking soda,and baking powder together.
- Cut in shortening.
- Add buttermilk.
- Stir together thoroughly and drop by spoonfuls in greased pan about 1/2" apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes @ 425°F.
Sometimes the old standbys are the best recipes. These are easy, and delicious. They are very light. I used buttermilk powder mixed with water and that worked great. I made these to have with some homemade soup, but I think they would be great for breakfast with butter and jam or honey!
These are delicious. I followed the recipe exactly and they turned out great. Nice and soft inside not dry and crumbly. Really quick and easy to make.Great, thank I'll be making these often
I love the texture of these very tasty biscuits. They are very soft inside and not at all crumbly. I made 6 and used 2/3 cup of unbleached flour and 1/3 cup of whole wheat and soured skim milk with lemon juice. They have a buttery taste even with just the 1 Tbsp of heart healthy margarine that I used. They took the 12 mins to get some color and were perfectly baked at that time. These are a treat.
