My dad used to make me these when i was a kid, he made them a little different. they worked better that ANY OTC medicine.
his recipe (it tastes great!):
1/2 cup of chamomile tea
1 shot glass worth of wiskey
LOTS OF HONEY
a quarter of a lemon, juiced
and this sounds gross but, NyQuil it works much better with it added
A friend introduced me to the "Hot Toddy" years ago when I got sick on my vacation, so naturally tonight I fell back on an old favorite...with your recipe! I am in foreign country right now and cold medicine seriously, does not exist here. People just "deal" with colds here! I am so glad for you, my friend! Thank you for thinking of others in posting this recipe, it is because of you tonight that I will get a good night's sleep tonight! And for that, I thank you :)
You never heat honey in the microwave. It kills all the healing propertys of the honey. Add the honey to the hot mixture after it comes out of the nuke. Otherwise this is a good combination. Thank you!
Thank you, I used this tonight, except I boiled ginger instead of using straight hot water. My cup was small, so it was mostly whiskey tbh, but damn that shit was tasty.
My mom used to make us this when we Had a cold...my family all had the flu this winter....my son and I loved them and it Madd us feel so much better! !! I used Jim Beam honey bourbon...it is really delicious
I couldn't get past the strong whiskey smell. I've never tasted whiskey before, and now I know why I avoided it. Another reviewer suggested adding more honey. That made it better.
A recipe both my Irish and Polish grandmothers could agree on. It always does the trick.
made mine with a orange slice instead. Wonderful, starting to feel a little better already!
Made this for one of my daughters when nothing else worked for her, and this worked. Thanks for posting it!
Sipping away nursing a cold. This is so soothing & delicious, thank you!
