I'm snowed in with no cold medicine and this recipe was an INSTANT relief for a sore throat and stuffy sinuses. I used two teaspoons of lemon juice (fresh squeezed) instead of one. Perfect!
A sinus infection (or something) has quickly set in and zapped me. Came home from work and looked up this. Relief! Due to supplies on hand, I had to sub brandy for whiskey and orange for lemon, but this is making me feel better than I have all day.
i absolutly love it!! My dad used to make me these when i was a kid, he made them a little different. they worked better that ANY OTC medicine.
his recipe (it tastes great!):
1/2 cup of chamomile tea
1 shot glass worth of wiskey
LOTS OF HONEY
a quarter of a lemon, juiced
and this sounds gross but, NyQuil it works much better with it added
Made this for one of my daughters when nothing else worked for her, and this worked. Thanks for posting it!
Sipping away nursing a cold. This is so soothing & delicious, thank you!
Great recipe! Sorry to hear about Dr. Pat :(
Just what I needed! I have a sore throat that makes me feel like I am constantly swallowing glass... except when I drink this toddy. Thank you so much.
Just what my Hubby needed to calmmhis cough and get a goot night's sleep, I used fresh lemon juice for a little added vitamin C, thanks for a keeper.
Also have to add, it's not supposed to be watered down. You're supposed to warm the whiskey, mix in a tablespoon of honey, a squeeze of lemon and knock it back as fast as you can, it's a Hot Toddy not a cocktail.
Just what I needed! I used a similar recipe years ago but had forgotten it. Thanks for posting.
