Double Chocolate Brownies

This is a family recipe. My mom always made these and I think my grandma did, too.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 12 cup butter
  • 34 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 12 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup flour
  • 14 cup cocoa
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • 14 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus more for the top, if you want)
  • 1 cup pecans (plus more for the top if you want) (optional) or 1 cup walnuts (plus more for the top if you want) (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Cream butter, sugar and egg.
  3. Add sour cream and vanilla; beat well.
  4. Combine dry ingredients and blend into creamed mixture.
  5. Stir in chips and nuts.
  6. Spread in a greased 9 inch square baking pan.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes.
  8. Top with extra chips and nuts before baking or right after.
