We usually make this with red food coloring to make a pinkish popcorn, but you can use any color that suits you or the occasion.
- Combine all ingredients except popcorn in sauce pan and cook until it reaches the soft ball stage.
- Pour over popcorn and stir until well coated.
I've been making a different sugared popcorn recipe for many years (we love it for family movie nights), but found that this one is better because it uses confectioners sugar - it doesn't lend itself to crystallization of the sugar as granulated sugar does. Found another secret by accident through making this popcorn, is that corn oil gives a much better result because you can't taste the oil taste - wow, what a difference.
