- 354.88 ml brown sugar, firmly packed
- 158.51 ml vegetable shortening
- 2 large eggs
- 29.58 ml milk
- 14.79 ml orange peel, grated
- 473.18 ml all-purpose flour
- 9.85 ml baking powder
- 4.92 ml ground cinnamon
- 2.46 ml ground cloves
- 1.23 ml salt
- 236.59 ml raisins
- 118.29 ml nuts, chopped
Directions See How It's Made
- Preheat oven to 350.
- In a large mixing bowl cream together brown sugar and shortening until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs, milk and orange peel.
- In a separate bowl stir together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. Mix into the sugar mixture, then stir in raisins and nuts.
- Drop the dough by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheets.
- Bake 10-12 minutes or until done.
- Remove from baking sheets, and cool on wire rack.
