  1. Peel, core, slice and cook the apples with the water.
  2. Add sugar and purée by putting through a sieve.
  3. Put into a serving dish.
  4. When cold cover with whipped cream.
  5. Melt butter and syrup and stir in the cornflakes.
  6. Scatter over the cream and chill well.
