1. This was excellent. I made it for a no meat, lent Friday so I ommitted the ham. I used american cheese and did not use sour cream as I had made a similar one and the sour cream made it too sour for the kids. I look forward to making it with the ham next time. Thanks for an excellent recipe!

 2. When trying this recipe I doubled the amount of ham and used buttered Ritz cracker crumbs in substitution of bread crumbs. Next time I plan to cut the amount of sour cream in half. I like one-dish-meals like this recipe. We enjoyed it and thanks for sharing this recipe, Audrey!

 3. I had some leftover ham that needed to be used up and I was just a little lazy about cooking a full-fledged, many course dinner so I chose this recipe. It was really good, filling and easy. Thanks for a great and easy recipe!

 4. I made this recipe because my 6 year old son wanted macaroni & cheese as his birthday dinner. It was fantastic. The flavors all tasted so good together and we especially loved the fluffiness of the texture. The only things that I did differently were I added extra onions and I used half extra sharp cheddar and half shredded pepper jack cheese. I will definitely be making this again. Thanks for sharing.

 5. Definitely a 5-star rating on this one. It is an excellent recipe with or without the ham, creamy and very easy to put together. I have been using this macaroni and cheese recipe for years; omitting the onion. I generally add the diced ham when I have left over smoked ham shoulder. In place of bread crumbs I prefer to use crushed butter cracker crumbs such as Ritz. You might also like to consider reserving some of the shredded cheddar to sprinkle over the top of the casserole before sprinkling the crumb mixture which makes a delicious crispy crust.

I am a mother of three and live in central Pennsylvania. My children were very active in after school activities and found we weren't spending anytime together at meal time. In 1998, I decided to start cooking my dinners in a crockpot so that we could have a home cooked meal together once everyone came home. My children now get so excited to see what we are having to eat and love the smell when they walk in the door. My family calls me the crock pot queen. LOL I use my crock pot everyday of the year.

My three children are now in college and before they come home they request their favorite meal. I still continue to cook in the crock pot for my husband and I. It is nice after a long day to know your meal is ready. It also helps in keeping my grocery bill down. With zaar, I can print my shopping list and that is all I purchase is the ingredients on that list.

Now, my two daughters have been crock pot cooking while in college. They find it is easy to cook for the themselves and their friends. It is an easy way to have friends over for dinner after classes

I still love trying new recipes and purchasing cookbooks, especially crock pot cookbooks.

Happy Cooking!
