I've been making these the last couple years for Christmas & Valentines Day. I use dark chocolate chips for the chocolate pieces (2 & 2/3 cups equal 1 lb). I always get tons of compliments on them. They disapear fast, wherever I take them.
The cookies were delicious. Very rich and chocolaty. I modified the recipe a little, using 3/4 chocolate and 1/4 macadamia nuts. (:

Wowee! Very nice semi-sweet chocolate flavor. Chewy on the outside and gooey on the inside. Sort of like a brownie pie cookie. Easy to make but hard to let it sit 45 minutes until you can bake them! Instructions don't say when to add the cocoa powder so I added it with the dry ingredients. Yes...I can imagine these with nuts, chocolate chips or even cherries in them...but they are also VERY nice as they are. Thanks for a keeper recipe lemoncurd! Made for 1-2-3 hit wonders. I forsee 100 ratings of this recipe.
