Deluxe Crock-Pot Oatmeal

"I wanted an overnight oatmeal recipe that included apples. The ones already posted here on zaar had really mixed reviews. I came across this one and really enjoyed it. I leave out the nuts for the sake of the kids."

  1. What a wonderful breakfast this made! It was so nice to wake up and have breakfast already made! This made just enough oatmeal to feed me and my two DD's. I'd like to try it next time with steel cut oats. I used almonds and raisins and followed the recipe except for replacing butter with margarine and milk with soy milk for personal preference. Thanks! Made for Dec 2008 veg*n swap. :)

  2. Maybe I should be using the Keep Warm function instead the Low function. After 9 hours I had a carbonized and charred mess on my hands. I bet this is a great oatmeal but my sister also tried this and turned this off after 4 hours on low in crock pot.

  3. This is a very tasty breakfast! So simple to put together too.The first time I made it the sides where burnt. My crockpot is quite big so I put some water in the crockpot placed all the ingredients in a smaller dish and sat the dish in the water. It came out perfect. Thanks Seesko for helping me find my new favorite Winter breakfast :)

  4. I cooked it 8 hours to low (1). But I'm not sure my crockpot 1 means low. Cause all the sides were burnt. But the middle of the oatmeal taste great. I used Splenda brown sugar and only 1/8 cup. I used raisins and omitted the nuts. I used skim milk. It's quite filling. But if I try it again, I'll add more cinnamon. Thanks Seesko. Made for Bevy tag

I am the mother of two beautiful boys. I love to bake and cook which has helped me to become very overweight. I have lost 50 pounds this past year and have been learning to cook "lighter". We still enjoy many of the same dishes we used to. However, I have learned portion control and how to make suttle changes to my recipes that don't affect the flavor.
