I think recipes should be rated only if you follow the instructions given, with no substitutions. That is only fair as maybe your substitutions could make the recipe a failure. This recipe turned out perfect for me and it was delicious. The graham crackers made it an extra special coffee cake. Thank you for sharing a wonderful recipe....

Excellent coffee cake. Very crunchy topping with lovely apple cake on the bottom. Will make this many more times. Thanks for posting.

This was very good and pretty easy! I made it in a 10inch springform pan and served it with Cool Whip (a couple of people in my family are lactose intolerant) but ice cream or whipping cream on top would be fantastic. It's almost like a caramel apple cake and the graham cracker crumbs give it a nice flavour and texture. Not your average coffee cake! Thanks

I can't believe no one else has rated this recipe. It is so good! I liked it better at room temperature, but that's just me. I substituted apple sauce for part of the butter. Kittencal has excellent recipes!

Wonderful recipe! Followed a recipe exact except I substituted oats for the walnuts and added a bit of lemon zest to the apples for a tangy kick! My cake came out a tad wet in the middle after 40 minutes (maybe a mistake on my part) but was an easy fix after I baked for an additional 5 minutes and let cool down! My family loved it!

Unfortunately, I was trying to supervise the kids decorating the tree while I was baking & made a few mistakes. I didn't see that I was supposed to beat the wet ingredients in for 2 minutes before adding the eggs and beating them in. The directions also state "Add in butter or margarine (if using)" so I substituted applesauce since I didn't figure it would be detrimental. BUT, despite baking it for more than 15 minutes more called for, the "cake" part turned out very wet, almost like an English pudding or bread pudding. I honestly don't know if that's the way it is supposed to be or not! The flavor was good though! Thanks for sharing!
