Decorators' Icing

"I received this recipe about 30 years ago at a cake decorating class. Makes a very creamy, workable icing. I don't remember the volume it makes, so disregard yield."

  1. Thanks for sharing! I have used this recipe for years for decorating cakes, but lost all of my "favorite" recipes in a tornado that hit three years ago!! I have used other recipes since then, but this is the original one I got when I took cake decorating classes about 37 years ago! My family all will be so happy to have their "real" icing on their birthday cakes again.

  2. WONDERFUL icing. I used this to frost my son's 1st birthday cake. I used paste food coloring. The icing, made just as written, came together effortlessly, was super easy to work with, piped really well, and held up great. My only complaint comes in cleanup, as it is kind of hard to wash up, but that is to be expected from the crisco in it. I will definitely keep this on hand for future birthay cakes!
