Hailing from the famous Kentucky Derby, this is a variation of its dessert. Made with a graham cracker crust rather than a pastry, the decadence still comes through in every slice. Every bite will produce mmmmm's with the rich flavor and chewy, but delicate texture. See alternate ingredients at bottom of recipe for variations of this recipe.
Directions:
1
Preheat oven to 325.
2
Mix sugar and flour in a large bowl. Set aside.
3
Add nuts, eggs, butter, chocolate chips, and vanilla to sugar-flour mixture. Mix together.
4
Pour this mixture into prepared pie crust.
5
Bake for one hour.
6
Cool completely.
7
Variations:.
8
Use mint chocolate chips or butterscotch chips instead of chocolate chips.
9
Use 2 teaspoons of rum or bourbon instead of vanilla.

Ratings & Reviews:
The "derby" part of the name comes from the Kentucky Derby, as this recipe originated in that area. Although the original recipe calls for walnuts, I think pecans are much better. I also think substituting bourbon for the vanilla is a must and prefer a pastry crust rather than graham cracker.
