    This is the only Apple Pie I bake anymore. Once I found this recipe I knew there was no better. Why mess with perfection.

    Ingredients:

    Serves: 6-8

    Directions:

      Preheat oven 425 degrees.
    2. 2
      Peel, core and slice apples and place in large bowl.
    3. 3
      Sprinkle with spices. Toss to mix.
    4. 4
      Melt butter in saucepan and stir in flour to form paste.
    5. 5
      Add water, white and brown sugar and bring to boil.

      Reduce heat and simmer 2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

      Pour over apples and toss to coat apples.

      Pour apple mixture into 9" deep dish pie shell leaving about tablespoon of syrup in bowl.

      Top with pie crust and cut vents.

      Brush some of the sugar mixture left in bowl over pie crust. Sprinkle with teaspoon of white sugar.

      Bake 15 minutes then reduce heat to 350 degrees and continue baking 50 minutes.

      Remove from oven.
