I first tried Dawa in Congo. I was so excited to bring this drink home to my friends and family. You do not need sugar, raw honey is perfect for this drink. I substituted honey in place of sugar and my dawa is fabulous!

This drink (well, minus the honey! ;-) is known here as Caipiroska and has been one of my favourites for years - you can make it as sweet, sour or potent as you like and the combo just really, really works!

I used a very small straw as the honey stick (plastic swizzle stick) and did not include the sugar, as I figured the honey would be sweet enough. Lime and honey were terrific together; I have always been a fan of sweet and sour. A fun way to play with alcohol:D
