Dates and Cream, a Dessert from Oman

An easy dessert that will hold in the fridge until wanted after dinner. The recipe gave no time so the 20 mins given is a total guess.


  1. Wash and remove seed from100 grams dates.
  2. Beat 200 ml cream until its thick, beat in any sugar you will be using if desired, being sure to beat until sugar is dissolved.
  3. Slice 5 almonds and 5 pistachios finely.
  4. In a deep platter place cream and dates and garnish with almonds and pistachios.
  5. Chill and serve.

So simple & so divine. Quick, too. Good for last minute desserts or impulse snacks. ;) I cut up pitted dates & topped it with a huge pile of very lightly sweetened whipped cream. I added some slivered almonds & went out on a limb by adding a sprinkling of cinnamon. MmmmmMMMMMMM!! Made for Exploring Oman 1/13. :)

I added a couple more "layers" to this dessert: a sprinkle of ground cardamom and a pinch of saffron. Lovely! I very lightly sweetened the heavy cream with honey. Made for Exploring Oman January 2013. Thank you!
