This is my mom's recipe. I loved this sliced with cream cheese spread on top.

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Combine nuts, flour, soda, and salt.
  3. Add shortening, coffee and dates.
  4. Stir to blend.
  5. Beat eggs slightly and add vanilla.
  6. Stir in sugar.
  7. Add date mixture.
  8. Be sure not to overmix.
  9. Bake in greased loaf pan for one hour.
  10. Serve topped with cream cheese for an even better treat!

I just made this bread about an hour ago and it was DELICOUS!! Was super easy to make, nice and moist and has a tasty not too heavy flavor!!
