This is a family recipe but I am not sure where it came from. I love dates, so this is a favorite of mine for holidays (and it is easy).

Ingredients Nutrition

  1. Mix all ingredients.
  2. Bake in greased layer cake pans or square pans at 375 degrees for 35 minutes.
  3. Cool for 15 minutes.
  4. Slice into squares and roll bars in confectioner's sugar so they don't stick together when stored.

Perfect for the date lover! I used a 9x9 square pan and patted the thick dough into it. I was wondering how they would turn out without any butter or shortening but they were great. Nice and chewy and something like a cross between a bar cookie and a candy. I can't wait to share them with my grandmother!
