directions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Grease and flour a 9 inch cake pan with 2 inch sides.
  • Melt the butter and chocolate in a heavy saucepan over very low heat. Remove from heat and whisk in the sugar and the eggs, one at a time. Stir vigorously 2 or 3 times, then gently whisk in the flour and salt. Pour the batter into the pan and tap the pan against the counter to break any bubbles.
  • Bake about 20 minutes or until a knife inserted into the cake comes out clean. Run the knife around the edge of the pan, cool 10 minutes, then unmold and cool right side up on a rack.

  1. I've made this cake twice now and I've used bitter-sweet and dark chocolate and both times it came out fine. Everyone who had it loves this cake and begs me to make it again!

  2. I thought this sounded yummy too. Went out, bought ingredients. b4 making this decided to check out the recipe online. Sure enough, on Parade's website is the correction. The Chocolate needs to be Bittersweet or Semisweet! I just came home with a pound of Dark Choclate, now I have to go buy the correct one. Read reviews on Parade website. Cake doesn't sound so good afterward, but I still intend to try it.
